Q&A: Why do I avoid sharing good news with my parents?

Question by Ras C: Why do I avoid sharing good news with my parents?
Ever since I was about 15, I’ve felt weird sharing news of my accomplishments to my parents. Like I just got a promotion at work and am going to get paid a generous sum while they train me, but I didn’t want to tell my parents about it.

I mostly got bad grades in middle and high school and on the rare occasion I got an A or B I didn’t want to show it to my parents.

I made the Dean’s List each semester in college but the only way my parents knew was when the letters would come to my house before I intercepted them.

I know I’m weird. I’m hoping for some insight on why.

maybe you are just to scared to let them see you accell at something because you worked so hard when you were younger to not accell, and you dont want them to know you can do better than average or below average so they wont expect any more from you at any given time you know some of us are like that

Holden at Southern Methodist …
