Movie Review: Everything and nothing happens in Mike Leigh’s effortless ‘Another Year’
Nothing really happens in Mike Leigh’s latest, “Another Year” — nothing extraordinary, at least. As the title suggests, the film follows the usual comings and goings, ups and downs that transpire over four seasons among a longtime happily married couple, their family and friends.

Tiger Woods and his Swedish-born wife officially divorced Monday, nine months after his middle-of-the night car crash outside his home set off shocking revelations that the world’s most famous athlete had been cheating on his wife. “We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future,” Woods and Elin Nordegren said in a joint statement released by their lawyers. The divorce was granted in Bay County Circuit Court in Panama City, Fla., about 375 miles away from their Isleworth home outside Orlando. The couple had married in October 2004 in Barbados and have a 3-year-old daughter, Sam, and a 19-month-old son, Charlie. Terms of the divorce were not disclosed, except that they will “share parenting” of their two children. The divorce was finalized by Bay County Circuit Judge Judy Pittman Biebel during a brief hearing in a conference room in her chambers, according to Biebel’s judicial assistant Kim Gibson. The hearing was very brief, only about five or 10 minutes. Both Woods and Nordegren were present, along with their lawyers, Gibson said. The couple signed a marital settlement agreement on July 3 and July 4, the weekend of the AT&T National outside Philadelphia, where Woods failed to break par in a PGA Tour event for the first time in 11 years. The sordid sex scandal cost Woods three major corporate sponsors, Accenture, AT&T and Gatorade, worth millions of dollars, and he lost his image as the gold standard in sports endorsements. A

Question by deepsoul20: Why do fewer younger people watch the news nowadays?
I’m 30 and my husband is 41. However, I seem more interested in the local television news then he does. He says it just doesn’t interest him. However, I’ve noticed both sets of our parents and grandparents watch the news regularly. It seems that the generations being born after 1965 started to change dramatically and fewer people care about things.

Consider that the generations after Vietnam didn’t have to worry about conscription so they didn’t have to keep up on world events. Also because of advances in technology information is literally at the fingertips of anyone with a computer or more recent phone. Television has also become more consuming with stunning visual displays. We take it for granted that we watch color TV. There are also literally thousands of channels for those willing to pay for it. We are also very secure and since we don’t feel particularly threatened we don’t watch as we should.

You can try online courses. But you’ve got to be good about time managment,

You can apply for food stamps and medical. Get child support if you’re not already and if you’re in a situtation where you can.

There are scholarships for single moms. Also FAFSA will help you get aid for school.

Good luck
